I heard Mudhoney was the band that was predicted to break into the mainstream and Nirvana was kind of an outlier. I kinda had the same experience as you guys with Nirvana getting me to check out groups like the Pixies and getting me into underground music.
Im gonna guess the band with the female bassist is the smashing pumpkins.
